Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most sessions are fully-clothed services, to allow deep stretches & easily change positions.
We empower our clients to reflect on daily habits & perform the activities, to improve the quality of their life. There are many things within your power to perform that can support your wellness.
We ask detailed questions about how your symptoms effect the quality of your life. Some people come to relieve physical symptoms and/or to improve athletic performance, others come for stress reduction and/or to improve their energy.
-
Come in modest, loose-fitting, comfortable attire. Most sessions are performed fully-clothed.
Traditional Thai Massage - loose-fitting, long pants are preferred (i.e. sweatpants, leggings)
We will not work under or remove any clothing. Clothing that is left on will be worked over.
Lower body stretching requires clothing (i.e. undergarments, shorts, pants)
Any area that is unclothed will be draped.
-
Our service is 90 minutes. This allows for the intake, physical bodywork, a reflection, and planning for future sessions.
Traditional Thai Massage can be booked for 120 minutes.
Requests for different session lengths will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Massage & Bodywork Therapy, like any form of therapy (i.e. Physical Therapy or Chiropractic) is best received consistently & frequently.
Chronic Conditions / Acute Injury / Flare-ups
1X / week, until the symptoms lessen. As you feel better, come less frequently.
1 hour of massage vs 160 hours behind a desk, per month, is not enough to provide lasting relief.
If this speaks to you, the best course of action, to manage your discomfort, will be raising awareness around your position & movment habits. We will do the bodywork. You must look at your habits, to see & feel lasting changes at home.
Maintenance
1X / 3 weeks.
If massage is the only thing you do in your self-care routine, consider coming more frequently. If you are doing additional therapy (i.e. Physical Therapy, Chiropractics, Stretching, Foam Rolling), consider coming based on your needs. How does massage fit into your wellness plan?
If you are interested in incorporating Isolated Stretching, Yoga, Foam Rolling, and Breathwork into your routine, consider booking a Private Class, in addition to your bodywork. Together, will find methods & techniques for you to bring a comfortable routine home. You & I, we are a team. If we do our work & you do yours, the longer you will feel better.
Benefits
-
Many clients come to seek relief from chronic stress, limited joint mobility, headaches, muscle spasms, and dull, achy pains. Leaving, clients may have reduced symptoms and the skills to breathe effectively, stretch efficiently, perform foam rolling comfortably.
Although there is no replacing the knowledge and skill of a seasoned professional, that dedicates their time and attention to you, their techniques aren’t magic. Learning basic massage principles and Self-Care techniques may give you the confidence to help yourself feel well, longer.

Recovery is equally as important as training to an athlete. Talk to us about your training program and how we can support your unique goals.
Ikigai Wellness provides stretching & massage services, for every stage of your training. -
As we work together, you may find that you become more capable of recognizing stress in your body and the chronic positions that exacerbate it. Are you leaning over your computer, with your toes tucked under your chair, and tension in your neck, between the shoulders? Looking at your phone, do you always hold it in the same hand, looking down and slightly to the side?
When you notice discomfort, actually take note of where you feel it. Now is the best time to take action to feel comfortable.
-
Not only will we work with you today but we will teach to effectively manage stress, to feel better tomorrow.
Stress manifests in the body a number of ways. How many times have you said “I hold stress here,” pointing between you shoulders, grasping the base of your neck. People live with this cumulative stress, feeling anxious, and tense. You don’t have to.
-
Give yourself permission to rest, relax, to take a breath. It’s okay to slow down. Let your shoulders settle away from you ears. Smile.
Breathing in — I am aware of the tension in my body. Breathing out — I am comfortable and relaxed.
